I have been waiting to try Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish for a few years now but I was always to scared to try it because even though everyone loves it I thought it might give me an eczema flare up, why would I think this you might be asking? Well because my skin is very sensitive and very dry and not always but a lot of the time that skin care products are really popular they dont agree with my skin.
At Christmas time Boots has offers on high end beauty products which Boots calls Boots Star Gift and one of them was the Liz Earle The Botanist's Cabinet gift set which came with Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser 150ml, 2 Pure Muslin Cloths, Instant Boost Skin Tonic 50ml, Superskin Concentrate for Night 2ml, Brightening Treatment Mask 15ml, Deep Cleansing Mask 15ml, 2 Sponges and Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask 15ml. Boots says this gift set is normal £60 but because its a Boots Star Gift I bought it for £30 which I think was really good, I did do a review on the gift set and about what I think of the Boots Star Gift idea which you can read here if you want to.
Sadly not long after getting this gift set I received an email from Boots saying that there has been a product recall for this gift set which cant be help sometime these things happen but if I had given this to someone as a Christmas present and they were really enjoying using it then I would have felt well bad, I totally get mistakes happen and I really dont mind so much since I got it for myself though.
The reason the gift set was recalled was because there was small traces of glass found in the Superskin Concentrate for Night but it was only found it one batch but they were recalling 3 different batches just encase. So did I return my Liz Earle The Botanist's Cabinet gift set? Well no because I dont like face oils normally and I was probably never going to try the Superskin Concentrate for Night and out of everything that was in the gift set I was least excited about it.
The reason I bought the gift set for myself was so I could finally try the Cleanse & Polish and I could try a few other skin care products for Liz Earle at the same time, I just though it was a really good starter kit for people that have never tried anything for Liz Earle before.
To use the cleanser you massage 1 or 2 pumps on to dry skin, I normal find 1 pump is a nice amount for me then you rinse the muslin cloth with warm water and gently remove the cleanser with the damp muslin cloth. I found the first time I used the muslin cloth it was to hard on my skin but the more I have used it the more I have learned to be softer when using it.
This cleanser feels creamy and it feels really nice when your massaging it on the skin, normally all cleansers that give a deep cleanse leave my skin feeling so dry and horrible like the life has been taken away from it but this cleanser did not feel like that. I dont think this cleanser made my skin feel hydrated like the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm would but this cleanser made me feel like my skin was getting a really nice deep clean without it being murdered.
My eyes can be very picky about what I use on them or even near them, if I use something they dont like then they will soon tell me with pain lots of pain and they will go really red and start to run but this cleanser did not make my eyes hurt or go red or get runny.
This cleanser smells really good like toothpaste which might sound weird but its really nice and minty and every time I smell it I just think of toothpaste and I really like it. I also really like the packaging, it dose not feel cheap but nice and secure so if you have it in your suitcase it should be fine. I think the pump is a good idea but the only down side I can think of is how do you tell when its almost finished so you can go and buy more.
I really like this cleanser and I can see why so meany other people love it too, I would totally buy this again because I love how my skin looks and feels after I use it and if my skin ever feels dry after using this a good face cream normal fixes that problem but it never makes it feel so dry that I would not use it again.
